About Joseph

Joe is a member of SouthBank Legal’s Chambers-ranked commercial litigation team who has represented companies and individuals in high-stakes proceedings before federal and state courts and arbitration tribunals across the country. He has significant experience in nearly all facets of litigation and arbitration, from pleadings and discovery through hearings, trials, and appeals. Over the course of his legal career, Joe has represented clients in a diversity of matters, including litigating eight-figure insurance coverage disputes, working with multinational companies to develop policies and procedures to address portfolio-wide exposures from emerging risks; serving as national coordinating counsel for a company facing thousands of lawsuits; litigating breach of supply agreements, labor and employment, and fraud claims; and representing individuals and coalitions in federal civil rights and constitutional actions.

Before joining SouthBank Legal, Joe practiced at an Am Law 100 law firm and in the Chambers-ranked commercial litigation department of a leading New England law firm. A graduate of Yale Law School, Joe clerked for Judge José A. Cabranes on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Experience

  • Defended prominent domestic and London Market insurers in numerous litigations involving multi-million-dollar claims brought under various coverages, including general liability, professional liability, directors and officers, property, and cyber.
  • Served as national monitoring and coordinating counsel for leading insurers on cyber and automobile claims.
  • Represented leading chemical manufacturer in litigation concerning breaches of supply agreements.
  • Counseled prominent London Market insurer on the development of strategies to control portfolio-wide risks from emerging issues.
  • Represented accomplished inventor in litigation against the Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Defended insurers and reinsurers in numerous arbitrations.
  • Drafted comments on proposed federal tax regulations on behalf of business coalition.
  • Represented non-profit coalition in First Amendment challenges to state election laws.
  • Represented public officials in challenge to regulations promulgated under the Clean Air Act.
  • Represented several pro bono clients in Section 1983 and landlord-tenant litigations.
