About Matthew
Matthew is a corporate attorney who focuses on technology, business formation, and corporate governance. Matthew’s practice is informed by more than a decade of experience as a founder, software engineer, and product manager. He is a Y Combinator alum, starting companies in healthcare, health tech and marketing tech, and retail. In addition, he led the new products and innovation team at a H1.co as it scaled from a $10M seed round to a Series C valued at over $750M. He has served as innovation and product consultant for several Y Combinator health tech startups.
In addition to his startup experience, Matthew has served as a mentor for Notre Dame’s Esteem Program, Our Sunday Visitor’s Startup Challenge, and the McCloskey Business Plan Competition.
Experience
Prior to practicing law, Matthew was involved in matters including the following:
- Led new product development at a YC health tech company as it scaled from Seed to Series C, building products to connect doctors to institutional research partners.
- Led new products and engineering at a Series B YC health tech company, building AI products to automate and evaluate site proposals for clinical trials.
- Founded and led an ovarian cancer diagnostic company in partnership with the University of Notre Dame.
- Founded an AI marketing tech company focusing on social media strategies for small businesses.
- Founded and exited a health tech company focusing on HLA matching for patients with auto-immune diseases.
- Founded an agricultural tech startup providing marketing and registered services to emerging animal breeds and breeders.
- Founded and operates a farm and bakery with his wife Katrina in West Michigan.
- Advisor to Catholic startups in connection with Our Sunday Visitor and the University of Notre Dame. Startups include companies focusing on evangelization, diocesan operations, parish operations, and ministry to the poor and vulnerable.
- Mentor at the University of Notre Dame’s Master’s in Entrepreneurship Program, McCloskey Business Plan Competition, and Race to Revenue.
