About Peter
Pete Vogel is a member of SouthBank Legal’s Chambers-ranked litigation team. A seasoned practitioner, Pete is experienced with all phases of litigation, from discovery through trial and appeal. He advises C-suite and VP-level stakeholders regularly and counsels clients facing a wide variety of issues in federal and state courts, including disputes over supply chain disruption, products liability, trade secrets, intellectual property, fraud, constitutional rights, government contracts, and employment law. Pete’s clients represent numerous industries, including automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, medical devices, food and beverage, telecommunications, and professional sports.
In addition to his litigation practice, Pete brings extensive experience handling a range of investigations, from high-profile, nationally covered matters to the most sensitive of internal inquiries. Throughout these experiences, Pete’s clients consistently place their trust in his strategic advice, skills, integrity and discretion.
Prior to joining SouthBank, Pete practiced in the complex litigation and government investigations departments of two Am Law 100 law firms in Chicago and Washington, D.C. He also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Daniel Manion on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and to the Hon. Jon E. DeGuilio on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
Pete graduated from William & Mary Law School, where he was a member of the William & Mary Law Review and served as a Legal Writing and Practice Fellow. While earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, he served as a four-year member of the Band of the Fighting Irish.

- Secured $33.45 million fraud and breach-of-contract complete jury verdict for international chocolatier against third-party logistics provider related to warehouse and supply-chain failure.
- In various state courts, represented Fortune 500 telecommunications provider pursuing indemnity claims against technology vendors valued at $200 million.
- Secured complete defense verdict on behalf of non-profit professional society facing FLSA claims brought by former employee.
- Represented Afghan allies bringing claims regarding use of real property for military base before Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, resulting in major opinion in clients’ favor.
- Represented Illinois inmate bringing Eighth Amendment constitutional claims.

- Defended Fortune Global 500 Tier-1 automotive supplier against claims of trade secrets misappropriation regarding components for General Motors vehicles.
- Defended Fortune Global 500 electronics manufacturer against patent infringement claims related to motion-sensing technology.
- Represented energy supplement manufacturer bringing trademark infringement claims against knock-off competitors.
- Represented estate of former Washington, D.C., mayor in lawsuit regarding misappropriation of name and likeness.
